ABDERRAHMANE AMAJOU a.amajou@slowfood.it Skype: abdamajou +39 333 9993582

Everybody calls me Ab. I joined Slow Food in 2014, the year of Terra Madre, when for the first time we involved 300 migrant delegates of different origins in the event. The challenge prompted us to open the Migrants Office. The world surrounding the migrants network has allowed us to get to know a reality in which biodiversity, climate change, sustainable development and diasporas are intertwined threads that combine to play an important role in co-development. Following the threads, we come to the node represented by our snail symbol, which also has a fundamental role to play. As we’re demonstrating with projects such as DiaMaSe, involving migrants in rural development, and the Recipes of Dialogue for inclusion through food.

I joined Slow Food in 2002 after years of apprenticeship and job experience in the administrative field. I worked first as an accountant, then as a controller, offering fiscal assistance to local area branches of the association. Today I divide my time between creativity and functionality. In the Network Hub I supervise the development of the Italy network and in the Operational Hub I work as a management backup. My great passions are cooking, the Langhe hills, painting and theater, and if I can share them with my son, I consider myself the luckiest person in the world. My great passions/desperations are wine—I have a dilemma about the concept of “natural”— and my dog, which is destroying the house. In a few years’ time, I’ll probably escape to the mountains with a group of shamans.

I joined Slow Food in 2007 and have always worked in the international department in a job that has allowed me to enter into contact with the most diverse local contexts. Over the years I have learned the value of local food, the importance of mindfulness in our everyday choices and the valorization of others in their uniqueness and diversity. I have been able to travel elsewhere, discovering far-off cultures and traditions, but also to offer a welcome here. What I love about my job is the opportunity it offers me to discover new things and grow every day. I am Occitan in origin, I speak English, French and Spanish, and I have a few vague recollections of German. In my free time, I enjoy doing crosswords, trying out new recipes, practicing Afro dance, making kilos of yogurt, reading (on and off) and dreaming up new goals.

On top of collecting recipe books and eating French cheese, I also unashamedly love to watch reality-TV shows to unwind.

CHIARA DAVICO c.davico@slowfood.it danythelord +39 0172 419602

I joined Slow Food in 2014 in time for my first Terra Madre. The goal was to work with the Latin American and Caribbean networks to give a voice to stories and pots and pans to creative hands, and also to generate a respectable market for the products of the area’s rich biodiversity. I went on to join the fantastic work group that coordinates activities in Latin America and the Caribbean. I was born in hills where they grow hazelnuts but I feel more akin to a forest of açai, cupuaçu and cacao. I’m restless and curious and a lover of the Brazilian dance forró, the art of which lies in the couple’s embrace. I identify with the naturalist John Muir when he says, “The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness’.

I was born on May 25, Africa Day. Not that I knew it when I came to work at Slow Food at the start of 2014. Since then I’ve helped the Slow Food network in Southern Africa and Portuguese-speaking countries to grow, seeking in the meantime to make harmony and goodwill flow among my colleagues, all second to none. If I get weary with the job, I double as coordinator of the Coffee and Cacao focus group. For some time now I’ve been a great opera buff, I usually only appear in passport-style photos, and I’m a firm believer that irony is the best form of survival.

I was born in Argentina and came to live in Italy in 2006. I was taken on immediately as a volunteer at Terra Madre 2006 and took part in every edition after that until 2014. In 2015 I started to work at the Latin America and Caribbean Office, and since 2016 I have been involved with the network of indigenous peoples and people of African descent. I’m a graduate in Development, Environment and Cooperation and also have a master’s in Cooperative Enterprise Management. My theses on agroecology and the cooperative movement and rescued enterprises reflect my political interests. I love surfing but I’ve never caught a wave. I’m much better at cooking asado and eating and drinking in company.

I’ve been at Slow Food ever since 1992. I ended up here by chance after sending a job application by post (that’s what you used to do in those days!). Slow Food wasn’t yet Slow Food, it was still Arcigola. In short, I watched the “baby” grow and I grew fond of it. Over the years I worked in admin and at the membership office, where I was involved mainly with matters of administration and accounting. For a year now I’ve been running the “Casa Slow Food” shop at Via Mendicità 14, in Bra, welcoming members, curious non-members and Convivum leaders. I collaborated with the Network Hub on the management of the database (data entry) and in direct contact with the people who deal with membership at the local level.

Mi da tanta soddisfazione viaggiare, in Italia o all’estero.

After graduating in languages in Belorus in 2005, in 2006 I joined the Slow Food family as an interpreter and external collaborator for projects in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus. Since 2009 I’ve worked in Bra as a regional coordinator. My job mainly involves developing Slow Food projects in countries within my province, ensuring their presence at international events, coordinating the network and organizing local events. Since my mother tongue is Russian, I also help produce general material in Russian. I really enjoy travelling, in Italy and abroad. In my free time, when I’m at home, I love baking cakes and cooking vegetarian food.

I graduated in 2007 with a thesis on “Slow Food: the network of taste” and my life since then has been intertwined with that of Slow Food itself. Since 2013 I have been involved in the international department, coordinating the international market for developing countries at events, handling imports of Slow Food Community products, managing relations with supporters and organizing international food and Airbnb Experiences activities. It isn’t easy to define my job as it’s developing all the time, according to the specific needs of the moment. What I like about it is the idea of being a crossover backup for the Network Hub.
